This is a lovely quality vintage Irish black wool coat made by Henry White of Dublin. This coat has raglan style sleeves with turned cuffs and a kimono type neckline. The front folds over and buttons at the upper chest and at the waist - the edge is notched and has a slanted line. There is a flapped pocket at either hip side. The back has a beautiful draped fall and a 24” kick vent at the bottom. The coat is fully lined in a black satin viscose fabric.
Label: Henry White Dublin Dry Clean Only. Henry White opened his first factory on Abbey Street in 1929, moving to Clarendon Street five years later. The business was known as Sty-lex, changing its name to Henry White Ltd. in 1952. There appears to have been a second label below the Henry White on, but it is missing.
Age: most likely early 90s - it appears to take inspiration from Thierry Mugler designs of the period.
